I am one of two co-assistant Writing Program Administrators for Iowa State University’s large (7500 students a year) foundational communication courses (ISUComm). I mentor new TAs in one-on-one consultations and classroom instruction. I also engage in programmatic assessment, test-out evaluation, and grade appeals. This year I helped design and promote a new emphasis in our multimedia curriculum; after we conducted last year’s programmatic assessment, we realized our emphasis on reflection needed to be refined to promote deeper learning through better reflective practices.
